Physical therapists assess your child’s motor development, strength, coordination and balance including:
- Basic skills like rolling, sitting, standing and walking
- Motor learning and coordination
- Posture and balance
- Recommend and adapt specialized equipment like walkers, splints and orthotics
They find exercises and movements that children can do to help to improve these skills, helping them to gain physical independence. Physical therapists may work with your child when they are in the hospital, at one of our Developmental Centers or in your local community.
